Jacob's First Official Haircut

Well, the time had come... Jacob's hair was too long to leave it go any longer, and Momma no longer felt she had the skills to get the job done well. I still didn't want to lose the curls, so we took him to the one person who I knew could get rid of some of the length and yet keep the curls, if that was at all possible - Marlene! And it was possible! I am SO pleased with the results. Check out these fun pictures from Looks salon:

What's the Word?

Our next door neighbor asked me the other day how many words Jacob was saying. Off the top of my head, I thought, “Maybe 10 ?” But I didn't really know. So I started making a list of all the words he was saying throughout the day. He says a lot more than I thought! Now, given, they are “Jake-ese”, but they’re still words!

A funny thing happened on the dishwasher door today...

Tonite before dinner, Gary was emptying the dishwasher and preparing to make some almond milk for Jacob. He had the dishwasher door down, and the blender on the counter with water in it. There was no lid on the blender, since he was about to add the almonds. At that point, Jacob decided to climb up on the dishwasher door, stand up, and take a look at what was on the countertop. Since he LOVES to push buttons, the blender was an exciting draw. So, he pushed the On button. Water sprayed up out of the blender, all over the place, drenching poor Jacob. The look on his face was priceless. He couldn't figure out why he was soaking wet, and what the button had to do with it. I wondered to myself if I shouldn't be laughing, so as to encourage him to do crazy things like that again in the future. But it was so hilarious I couldn't help myself!

The Sharps came over for dinner tonite, and we couldn't resist snapping a few pics of our adorable boys greeting each other with hugs. We love that they are friends, too!

Not exactly Santa's reindeer, but...

Christmas 2008 was spent with Grandma Merry and Grandpa John at the family farm.  Jacob was ENTHRALLED with the deer head hanging in the office.  He kept saying, "BUCK!" Over and over and over and over...  When you would lift him up to see it, he initially shied away.  By the end of the few days we were there, though, he would pet the deer.  Hilarious!
Hopefully this will not have any ill-effects on his ideas about Santa's reindeer.  :)

SNOW much fun!

This past weekend, we decided to have a little family fun in the snow, since this is really the first winter that Jacob could play outdoors. So we BUNDLED up and headed outside. At first, Jacob didn't know what to think about the cold, white, powdery stuff that didn't have any resistance when he pushed on it. :) But then he got the hang of it. Daddy helped him walk around in it for awhile. Then he put Jacob in a laundry basket and pulled him around the front yard and on the newly snowblown sidewalk. Jacob had a BLAST! I think you can tell from the huge grin in the photos below. Happy winter!
